Stress can be defined as a state of emotional or mental strain which in most cases have adverse effects. A stressed person is prone to psychological breakdown. Stress is caused by very many factors. Different people usually have different stress triggers. Some people get stressed at their workplace. Causes of stress in the workplace include being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, working under dangerous conditions among other causes. There are also life stresses. These emanate from the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, getting married and much more.

Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. It is possible to stress oneself by worrying about some things. The fear of certainty, attitude and perceptions, unrealistic expectations, and major life changes can make a person worry a lot hence resulting to stress. Stress is a form of mental instability. People are advised to try as much as they can to relieve themselves from stress. There are some negative health effects that are associated with stress. Examples are a headache, fatigue, and irritability and difficulty in sleeping. Some of the health implications of stress can be life-threatening. However, there are ways that can help a stressed person to do away with the stress.

The simple tips of dealing with stress are as follows. Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol should be avoided by avoided when a person is experiencing stress. Nicotine and caffeine are known to be stimulants. People mistake these substances for reducing the stress levels but in the real case they increase it. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, however, it is not a helpful way of dealing with stress. Getting enough sleep is one of the methods of managing stress. This is so, since lack of enough sleep is capable of causing stress. Another tip of managing stress is the utilization of the relaxation techniques. Most of them are tried and tested.

Physical exercise is another method of managing stress. Stress is characterized by the increasing levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. Exercise, therefore, can be used as a surrogate to metabolize excessive stress hormones so that one can reach a more relaxed state. Even the slow exercises can still assist one to achieve these effects. Brisk walking in fresh air can be very helpful. There are even better benefits of incorporating physical exercise into your daily routine.

There are certain ways on how exercise help in stress management. One of these mechanisms is through pumping of endorphins into one’s body. These are brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters. When someone exercises, they tend to forget about the irritations that they have had. Another way on how exercise reduces the stress levels is by improving someone’s mood. Improving the moods of a person is as a result of increased confidence, and lowering symptoms of depression.
